Live performances, open studios, exhibitions, backstage access, Lazlo Hollyfeld concert and more!

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2025) The University at Buffalo Center for the Arts (UBCFA) opens its doors for Art in the Open, a free annual celebration inviting the public to explore how art is made and experienced at UB. Guests can visit open studios, visit art studios, watch performances, view exhibitions and screenings, and experience creative work in action throughout the Center.

At 7 p.m., Buffalo’s own art-rock band Lazlo Hollyfeld will perform live in the Atrium — a homecoming for two UB alumni and the very first band ever featured in “Music is Art Live @ the Center”  25 years ago.

Art in the Open offers rare behind-the-scenes access to UB’s creative spaces, featuring work by students and from the UB departments of  Theatre and Dance, Music, Media Study, and Art, along with exhibitions presented by the UB Art Galleries.

“Having Lazlo Hollyfeld return to the same stage where they performed 25 years ago perfectly captures the spirit of this event, connecting generations of artists, students, and our wider community,” said Jamie Enser, executive director of the UB Center for the Arts. “We also welcome prospective students to experience all that the arts at UB have to offer.”

Schedule:
5–7 p.m.          Open studios, live performances, exhibitions, installations, tour backstage spaces
7-8 p.m.           Lazlo Hollyfeld concert
