When Opportunity Meets Community: Stronger Families--Stronger Futures

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network (BPPN) in collaboration with the Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), will host the Strong Families, Strong Futures Workforce Development Expo on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Buffalo EOC, 555 Ellicott Street in Buffalo. This dynamic, community-centered event will bring together residents, educators, workforce professionals, and service organizations with one goal: expanding access to career training, education, and the supportive services families need to thrive.

Attendees will receive direct access to workforce development programs, SUNY Reconnect opportunities, résumé assistance, and interview preparation support. Participants can explore education and certification pathways designed to increase earning potential and strengthen long-term economic stability for individuals and families.  This event is free and open to the public.

Community partners confirmed to participate include Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center, Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education DivisionDC #4 International Painters UnionFidelis CareNorthland Workforce Training CenterPartners In Community Development, the RISE Program of FeedMore WNYSUNY ErieWestern New York Clean Energy Hub/PUSH BuffaloWNY Women's Foundation, and the Workforce Buffalo Downtown Career Center. Each organization will provide resources focused on economic advancement and family support services.

Organizers stress that workforce development is not just about employment — it is about family stability and community transformation.

“Economic opportunity is one of the strongest components of family stability,” said LuAnne Brown, CEO of BPPN. “When parents and caregivers gain access to education, skill training, and meaningful career pathways, it doesn’t just change their circumstances — it strengthens their children and our entire community. Children thrive in school when their basic needs are met. This expo is about removing barriers and building brighter futures.”
