Buffalo Fatherhood Initiative Hosts Boxing Training

The Buffalo Fatherhood Initiative, a program of the Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network (BPPN), is hosting Boxing Training Sessions for Beginner to Intermediate Participants at the F.L.A.R.E. Center, located at 307 Leroy Avenue, Buffalo 14214, on January 12 and January 26.

These interactive sessions go beyond physical fitness, offering fathers and their children a unique opportunity to connect through structured boxing training, mentorship, and shared experience. Participants will learn foundational boxing techniques, including strength and conditioning, footwork, punches, and counters, as well as spiritual and physical fitness practices designed to build self-discipline, confidence, and resilience.

Activities include mitt work between fathers, male mentors, and their children; partner drills that promote timing, focus, and accuracy; and cardio and strength-building exercises that support overall wellness.

Terry Seay, Manager of the Buffalo Fatherhood Initiative, emphasized the deeper purpose behind the program, “This is about more than self-defense or conditioning,” said Seay. “It creates meaningful opportunities for fathers and men to engage with their children in a positive, structured environment. Our goal is to help strengthen father-child relationships, and activities like this are one of the many ways we bring that mission to life.”

The next Boxing Training Sessions will take place on Monday, January 12 and Monday, January 26, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the F.L.A.R.E. Center. Participation is free, but registration is required. Interested participants can register here https://forms.gle/GaJHdYUpjKycYuDA6.
