Know Your Rights Training: Black Community Defense & ICE
This training is offered in collaboration with several Buffalo-based, Black-led organizations, including Liberation for One, Liberation for All, LOLA, Colored Girls Bike Too (CGBT), Dismantling Oppressive Patterns for Empowerment, DOPE Collective, and other local Black organizers. It is designed to educate and prepare the Black community to protect ourselves from ICE.
While Black people and our communities have a long history of experiencing state-sanctioned violence and over-policing, and ICE has not explicitly named Black communities as its primary target, it is still critical that we are prepared—not only to protect ourselves, but to protect our communities as a whole.
Participants will receive essential information and practical skills to understand their rights and respond safely and effectively to encounters with ICE. The training will conclude with a call to action to strengthen community safety and collective advocacy.
