Mayor-Elect Sean Ryan to Join Community Leaders at the 7th Annual Anti-Displacement Summit

Buffalo, NY — Local housing justice organizations, community partners, and residents will gather for the 7th Annual Anti-Displacement Summit on Saturday, December 6th, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at the Delavan Grider Community Center. This year’s summit, hosted by Our City Buffalo alongside a coalition of city and regional advocacy groups, remains one of the city’s largest annual gatherings focused on equitable development, housing stability, and community power-building.

A major highlight of this year’s summit is the re-release of the widely read “Who Rules Buffalo?” —report now published for the first time in book form. This new edition features an updated introduction that speaks directly to the city’s current political moment, including the upcoming mayoral transition. It offers a timely, sharpened analysis of power and decision-making in Buffalo, and reflects both the present landscape and what lies ahead under the Mayor-elect’s leadership.

Speaking of which, Mayor-elect Sean Ryan will take part in the summit’s closing plenary, participating in a one-on-one interview with I’Jaz Ja’Ciel, President of the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists. Their conversation will focus on the Mayor-elect’s housing plan, priorities for the new administration, and opportunities for collaborative, community-centered policymaking.

The event will feature workshops, resource-sharing, strategy sessions, and discussions designed to strengthen resident leadership to the affordability crisis and the ongoing displacement of residents in Buffalo. Participants will have opportunities to connect with neighbors, learn from local advocates, and develop collective strategies that support stable, equitable, and thriving communities.

A light breakfast, lunch, and childcare will be provided to ensure broad community participation.

In addition, the summit will feature a Jamaica Donation Station, giving attendees an opportunity to contribute essential items in solidarity with communities abroad. We are creating the community we want to live in together. See you Saturday!
