Quilt Making Event at Merriweather Library Branch

On June 13,2026 from 4pm-5:30PM, The Explore &More Children’s Muse um will be at the Frank E. Merriweather Library Branch located at 1324 Jefferson Avenue for a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Children from the city and community are invited to come to the library on that day to take part in a project called “We the People: A Quilt of Belonging.” To celebrate the many cultures of America and New York State.

During this event, there will be a reading of “The Patchwork Path: A Quilt Map to Freedom.” From there, the teaching artists from Explore & More and the children ages 5 years old – 10 years old will make quilt squares about their family’s heritage and the connection to Erie County.

Afterwards, the children will be invited to contribute their quilt squares to a large county wide quilt project. The squares will be assembled into a completed quilt and displayed by the library.

Registration for this event is strongly encouraged, and drop-ins are welcomed as well.
