2025 Dr. Opal Lee “NO KING” Championship Results

The final three match es of the 2025 Dr. Opal Lee Championships had very exciting matches held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Frank E. Mer riweather branch library. Joining the International competition were FIDE rated, Ferdinand Supsup, (rated 1790) from Toron to, Ontario, Canada and from Buffalo NY, US Air force veteran, National Master Barry B. Davis, (rated 2081) brought the field up to twelve (12) players.

Congratulations to 2025 Dr. Opal Lee “No Kings” Chess CHAM PION - Thomas A. War ner (1700), Delevan NY, pictured with Michael A. Mc Duffie, USCF TD. Also - Thomas A Warner, pictured are the following from left to right are, 2nd Place - Stuart Jarzab (1809) Sanborn NY, op Under 1300 Bianca M Gonzalez (1007) Buffalo NY, Top Under 1600— Dakaylah Winfield (674), Cheektowaga NY rep resenting Code Green Automotive Sales LLC. and Champion Thomas A. Warner.

Upsets in the Finals were as follows, Roberto Arvelo scores 842 points drawing Ferdinand Sup sup of Canada, Trevor Cohn. Kenmore NY scored 387 points by defeating David S Miller (1600). Dakaylah Win field, Code Green Auto motive scores 332 points, defeated Rick Jones. 2024 Dr. Opal Lee undefeated Champion, and James J. Paul, Army veteran scored a draw against Canadian, Ferdinand SupSup for 150 points and defeated Third Place winner - Trevor D. Cohn. The next challenge Bianca Gonzalez, Stuart Jarzab and Dakaylah Winfield is the world’s biggest open chess tournament, 53rd Annual World Open, a 9 game, three-day event, from July 2 to July 6, 2025, in Philadelphia, PA. Top Cash Prize is $7000!

The Archangel 8 Chess Academy is announcing a new four (4) games, 2025 Summer International Chess Tournaments will be held on Saturday, July 12 and August 9, 2025, to be held at the Frank E. Merriweather branch library. Interested chess players should reply to Knightsof64@yahoo.com.
