YWCA of Western New York Announces “Holiday Hope Donation Drive”
More than 20 donation bin locations available across Buffalo and surrounding suburbs; donated items will be distributed to YWCA of WNY’s families.
Buffalo, NY — Today, the YWCA of West ern New York has announced its Holiday Hope Donation Drive, calling on residents, businesses, and com munity partners to con tribute unwrapped gifts and essential items to support YWCA of WNY families facing financial hardship during the holiday season. With more than 20 donation bins across Buffalo and near by suburbs, community members can easily sup port this initiative which helps local families in need.
Many families served by the YWCA of WNY experience holiday scarcity that extends beyond gifts. The need often includes everyday essentials that support children’s health, learning, and emotional well being, as well as supplies for seniors and women. Items collected during the donation drive will go directly towards the YWCA of WNY’s upcoming Holiday Market, a free shopping experience exclusively for YWCA of WNY families held later this month.
“For many of the families we serve, the holidays can bring added stress instead of joy. Our Holiday Hope Donation Drive ensures parents, children, and seniors have the support they need this season,” said President and CEO of YWCA of Western New York, Michelle Sawyers. “This effort reflects our mission to empower women, help families, and strengthen our com munity. When our neighbors give, they help us show every family that they are seen, valued, and not alone.”
This year, the YWCA of WNY has served 6,000 people in need. Holiday Hope donations will support families with children (newborns –age 17), YWCA of WNY housing residents, seniors, and caregivers experiencing financial hardship. Local volunteers, donors, and partner organizations will also participate by offering outreach and resources.
To help community members select the most needed items to donate, the YWCA of WNY has a detailed list of age appropriate gifts and family essentials avail able on their website. The items requested include:
New, unwrapped gifts for all ages (infants –seniors)
