5/14 Memorial Foundation Seeks Grant Writer to Advance Living Memorial and Healing Center Project
Buffalo, NY – The 5/14 Memorial Foundation, Inc. today announced the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for professional grant writing services to support fundraising efforts for the 5/14 Living Memorial and Healing Center, planned for the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Best Street on the east side of Buffalo.
The Foundation was created to honor the ten lives lost and the three survivors of the May 14, 2022 mass shooting, while advancing remembrance, healing, education, and social justice initiatives. The Living Memorial and Healing Center is envisioned as a world-class facility featuring immersive museum exhibits, a reflective garden, and community gathering spaces designed by internationally recognized architects Douglass Alligood and Jin Young Song of Alligood Song Architecture.
Through this RFP, the Foundation seeks an experienced grant writing partner to help secure the resources needed to bring this transformative vision to life. The selected partner will:
Research and identify federal, state, local, and private funding opportunities aligned with the Foundation’s mission
Develop and write competitive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications.
Collaborate with staff and leadership on budgets, supporting materials, and compliance.
Assist in building the Foundation’s capacity for long-term grant management and reporting.
Proposals are strongly encouraged from minority-owned, women owned, veteran-owned, and locally based firms or consultants, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“This memorial project is more than a statue of remembrance,” said Chad W. Houston, Sr., Incoming Executive Director of the 5/14 Memorial Foundation. “It will be a place of healing, a platform for community collaboration, and a launchpad for collective action against hate. To make this vision a reality, we are seeking professional grant writing services to help move the project forward in a timely and impactful way.”
