BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sewer Authority (BSA) is advancing plans for the Roosevelt Park Offline Storage Facility Project, a major combined sewer infrastructure investment designed to reduce combined sewer overflows and improve water quality in local waterways. As part of the project’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, interested members of the community are invited to attend a Public Information Meeting to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Public Information Meeting

Date: Tuesday, July 14, 2026

Time: 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Martha Mitchell Community Center 175 Oakmont Avenue Buffalo, NY 14215 The Roosevelt Park

Offline Storage Facility Project includes sewer improvements along a portion of Edison Avenue, as well as the construction of a large underground storage facility beneath Roosevelt Park. During periods of heavy rainfall or snowmelt, the facility will temporarily store excess combined sewage before gradually releasing it into the sewer system once capacity becomes available.

This important infrastructure investment will help reduce combined sewer overflows, improve water quality in Scajaquada Creek and connected waterways, strengthen Buffalo’s wastewater infrastructure, and enhance the community’s resilience to increasingly severe weather events. The project is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in Spring 2028, following completion of design, permitting, and procurement activities. Community members will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Buffalo Sewer Authority and the project team at the July 14 meeting. to learn more about the project’s purpose, schedule, anticipated construction impacts, and long-term environmental benefits.

Additional project updates, meeting materials, and future announcements will continue to be shared throughout the design process.
