Hoban Calls for Amherst Town Tax Cut and Outlines Budget Goals

Dennis Hoban, an endorsed Conser vative candidate for Amherst Supervi sor called today for a 5% reduction of the tax levy. The current Amherst town budget is $ 164,900.000. His plan will reduce town taxes by implementing four decisive and overdue actions:

  1. If Erie County wants the Westwood facility, a proper lease should cover the $ 7.8 million dollars. Amherst taxpayers paid for it.

  2. Supervisor Brian Kulpa has added a multitude of unnecessary patronage positions. These non-civil service jobs add approximately $ 2 million dollars to the budget annually.

  3. Focus on and close reviews of all major purchases, travel, and any new ly created positions. And identify and eliminate waste and duplication.

  4. All town purchases of real prop erty over $ 2.5 million must go to public referendum. Under current administration Amherst paid $ 7.8 million for the Westwood property, $ 7.1 million Royal Parkway Sports Complex and $ 6 mil lion for the Maple Rd. Gun Club property.

For the last two years Dennis Hoban has spoken out for Amherst taxpayers. One can help him to continue this fight, with support in the Republican Primary on June 24th.
