Lawrence Dupre: As We Move Forward for Autumn

As summer comes to a close soon, Erie County 1st district Legislator Lawrence Dupre is looking forward to starting his fall agenda. “I hope that everyone has enjoyed all the festivals and events around the city and suburbs. And now we as a community can get ready for the fall activities and events ahead,” said Mr. Dupre.

For the rest of this month, Mr. Dupre gave a proclamation to Dr. James McDaniel on August 17, 2026, during the unveiling of a trail blazing sign in his honor at ECMC.

On August 29, 2026, Mr. Dupre and various labor organizations are collaborating together to have a “Union Job Fair” at East High School from 9am - 5pm located at 820 Northampton Street. At this event, people will get the chance to meet with representatives from the Building Trades Appren ticeship Programs, job recruiters in health care, government, service works, auto, steel, education and more. Kids that come to this event will receive a backpack, haircuts, and braids. Adults are encouraged to bring a resume. “I will be working together with the Buffalo Central Labor Council, 1199 SEIU, and the local labor unions,” aid Mr. Dupre.

Heading into Septe ber, Mr. Dupre will be holding a Biometrics seminar at the Frank E. Merriweather Library located at 1324 Jefferson Ave in the auditorium from 5:30pm – 6:30pm on September 8, 2026. On the same week, the Erie County Legislative sessions will resume on Thursday September 10, 2026.

Serving Our Seniors will be held at the Stadnitski Garden Apts located on100 Beck Street on September 21, 2026, from 11am-12:30 pm. “I will meet with the residents there to discuss bringing resources and neighborhood issues. I have already been to the Monsignor Geary Apts at 1250 Bailey Ave, the God City Apt. at 175 Pershing Ave, and the Walden Park Senior Apts. At 101 Bakos Blvd. On October 19, 2026, I will be visiting the Gethsemane Apts. At 228 Kingsley Street,” stated Mr. Dupre.

September is also “Disaster Preparedness Month.” People can start preparing for the winter months ahead by know ing what they can do if a weather emergency arises. Mr. Dupre stated that, “Now is the time to start stocking up on food, household items and batteries. Keep check on medications in case a person can’t go out to get them.”

Mr. Dupre went on to say that for “Disaster Preparedness Month,” Erie County is working on getting things together and coordinating with other agencies. “For example, if a senior or some else is on dialysis and is in need of assistance getting to the place where that person have their treatment, they can call 716 – 858- 7669 to arrange for a ride. There are apps that can be downloaded such as erie. gov, plus sign up for the City of Buffalo, Buff Alert Systems. People are encouraged to contact the local representatives for further assistance or call 211,” said Mr. Dupre.

Finally, Mr. Dupre wants everyone to enjoy the fall season and all it has to offer and for kids to be safe during the school year.
