Buffalo’s New Mayor Will Be Sworn In at Historic Kleinhans Music Hall

BUFFALO — Mayor-Elect Sean Ryan today announced details of the upcoming inaugural activities that will mark the start of the first newly-elected administration for the City of Buffalo in the last 20 years. Mayor-Elect Ryan’s Inauguration will be held on Jan. 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the historic Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, home of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. This will mark the first time a Buffalo Mayoral Inauguration has been held at Kleinhans. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans, featuring performances from local cultural organizations and catering by Buffalo restaurants.
Mayor-Elect Ryan will be sworn into office by Anthony Brindisi, United States District Judge for the Northern District of New York. Mayor-Elect Ryan and Judge Brindisi previously served together in the New York State Assembly. Following the Inauguration ceremony and reception, Mayor-Elect Ryan will travel to Buffalo City Hall to mark his first official day in office.

On Dec. 31, 2025, Mayor Elect Ryan will host an Inaugural Gala at the Hotel Lafayette in downtown Buffalo. The Inaugural Gala will begin at 8:00 p.m. and conclude at 1:00 a.m. A ball drop and champagne toast will be held at midnight to mark the beginning of the New Year. Fancy dress and black tie are encouraged for attendees.
Tickets for the Inaugural Gala cost $150, with proceeds benefiting the Buffalo Community Improvement Fund, Inc., a charity registered with the NYS Charities Bureau and established by Mayor Elect Sean Ryan to raise funds for the support of charitable organizations operating in the City of Buffalo.
