Mayoral Candidates Food Forum: A Community Conversation

Food is incredibly important to our communities and impacts every facet of our lives. Yet, over 12% of our households are food insecure and that number is increasing. Food has also been used to directly harm our communities. While the horrific May 14th, 2022 massacre at the Tops of Jefferson Ave. is perhaps the most acute example, it is but one instance of food related violence that our communities have been subjected to over the past many decades. As Buffalo voters, we are demanding a plan to ensure that our communities’ food needs are met.

We want the room packed, with standing room only! It’s vital that the candidates see that communities are demanding food access and food security for all in our city!

The Mayoral Candidates Food Forum will include two portions 1) questions from the Good Food Buffalo Coalition’s Forum planning team and 2) audience questions, all read by the moderator. The public are invited to arrive early to submit a food-related question to be read during the public question portion of the forum. Due to limited time, not all questions will be read but will all be shared with the candidates following the forum for written responses.

We will start promptly at 5:30, so make sure to get there a little early to submit your questions, help yourself to light refreshments, and visit with some of the organizations working on food-related issues in our city, who will be tabling at this event!

We hope to see you there!
