New York’s Only Black-Owned Bowling Alley Is Ready And Set To Reopen

Buffalo, NY—On Saturday, July 19, 2025, Kerns Avenue Bowling Center celebrates their anticipated reopening from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, 163 Kerns Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14211. Dan Adams, Owner of Kerns Avenue Bowling Company, extends a city-wide invitation to everyone to attend Phase One of their reopening. Kerns is a significant cultural and community landmark that has operated for eighteen (18) years in Buffalo, New York. Event host and popular DJ is Kenny Kutz, Owner of Timeless Tunez.

It was June 13, 2025, not too long ago that New York State Senator Sean Ryan announced that Kerns Avenue Bowling Center was to become the first recipi ent of a Vacant Rental Program grant in Western New York. The program was devised by Senator Ryan. It is part of his comprehensive plan to address the shortage of high-quality, affordable housing in Buffalo and across Upstate New York.

Recently Dan Adams, Owner of Kerns Avenue Bowling Company, said, “My vision from day one was for Kerns Bowling Alley to be a place for our community. A place to learn how to bowl, host leagues, celebrate and be a community anchor for all! We are honored to offer family-friendly entertainment for the city and are grateful for the many community leaders who have shown support.”

Community leader Talia Johnson Huff, President & CEO, MWBE Constructors, Inc, exclaimed, “Being able to witness the transformation of the historic Kerns Bowling Alley for Mr. Dan Adams has been nothing short of inspiring. As someone who lives just around the corner, and who has worked behind the scenes on major developments across Western New York, this project hits home in a personal way. My father is a service-disabled veteran, and I know the strength it takes to ask for support. That’s why seeing this community rally behind Adams is a win for all of us. Community partners like Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood Housing, every founder, every partner and especially Senator Sean Ryan did their big one on this. This reopening is more than just a ribbon-cutting; it’s a reawakening. I’m proud to stand in col laboration on this and even prouder to call this neighborhood home.”
