Noco Shares Important Furnace Reminders For Homeowners
TONAWANDA, NY – With Western New York communities experiencing an abundance of snowfall in recent days and more on the way, NOCO is sharing a few winter weather reminders for homeowners. The first is to make sure your home’s furnace vents are not blocked with snow drifts. These vents are typically white PVC pipes located on the side of your house, which allow your furnace to properly exhaust.
“While shoveling your driveway and sidewalk, it’s important to also make sure to clear your vents to help your fur nace continue to run safely and efficiently,” said Kevin Williams, executive vice presi dent of NOCO at Home. “Blocked furnace vents can cause your furnace to shut down and allow car bon monoxide to build up inside of your home.”
NOCO encourages homeowners to check furnace vents as well as dryer vents, heat pumps, and gas meters daily as snow continues to fall and as wind may blow more snow up against the house even after clearing.
Other tips homeowners can tackle is changing the batteries in your thermostat to avoid heating fail ures and making sure you have recently changed your furnace filter. Both will allow your furnace to continue to operate efficiently and effectively to keep your home warm.
