Patrick H. Freeman, known as “The Mighty O’Ba,” is a feature writer for the Buffalo Criterion Newspaper and a veteran sports broadcaster with nearly 30 years of experience.
Freeman has covered the Buffalo Bills, 25 Super Bowls, and numerous NBA, college and high school sporting events. His acclaimed talk show, “The Message,” aired from 1994 to 2008 and inspired him to write his insightful book, The Art of the Interview, Book 1. His latest book, Maximizing the Big Game, offers strategies for those covering major championship events.
Patrick Freeman is respected leader and community servant, who has received many awards— Eye on History and Black Achievers in Industry award. He is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the District Deputy Grand Master (Emeritus) of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of New York.
In 2006, he was elevated to the 33rd-degree Mason and last degree of masonry by the United Supreme Council Northern Jurisdiction (PHA). He is also a member of the Pro Football Writers Association of America and an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church.
Beyond journalism and broadcasting, Freeman is the founder of Artesian Development LLC, specializing in residential development and rehabs, and co-founder of ATL Philly’s, an Atlanta-area food truck serving the best steak sandwiches since 2022.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Freeman received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2020 from Global Oved Dei Seminary & University (GODSU).
Today, Freeman continues to share his experience through writing, broadcasting and mentoring, helping the next generation master what he calls one of journalism’s most important skills—the art of the interview.
