Read To Succeed To Participate In 9 To 5 Dolly Day: September 25 In Support Of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Read to Succeed (RTS) has announced that the organization will be participating in 9 to 5 Dolly Day on September 25 in support of its Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL). September 25 will be the Dollywood Foundation’s annual 9 to 5 Dolly Day, a playful tribute to Dolly and her iconic song “9 to 5.” The Dollywood Foundation’s goal is to make September 25 an easy, repeatable opportunity for local awareness and fundraising rooted in Dolly’s belief that every child should Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More through the gift of books.

Read to Succeed is a local program partner of the Imagination Library, mailing over 8,000 age-appropriate books per month directly into the hands of registered infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout Erie County.

“According to Zero to Three, only 37% of parents read to their babies every day. Imagination Library is giving caregivers across Erie County the opportunity to improve their child’s foundational literacy skills outside of the classroom,” stated RTS Executive Director Anne Ryan. “9 to 5 Dolly Day allows us to spotlight our own program that has been gifting the joy of reading and making a difference in children’s lives since 2012.”

“Building age-appropriate home libraries and encour aging caregivers to read every day with their young children is a critical building block of literacy and social emotional development for children,” continued Ryan. “However, while there is no charge for the program it is not free for Read to Succeed.”
