Shirley Lanier
Shirley Lanier entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Ellicott Rehabilitation Center in Buffalo NY. The wake will be on November 3, at 11:00 and the funeral will follow at noon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home, located at 995 Genesse Street.
Shirley Marcella Harris-Lanier was born on February 13, 1935, in Buffalo, New York, to Percy Harris and Mary Gilbert Patterson Harris. She was the oldest of three children, the late Ronald Muhajeer Abdulhakim and Hassan Abdulhakim.
On August 11, 1959, Shirley married Willie J. Lanier. Two sons were born to their union: The late Connell Stewart Lanier, and Todd Adam Lanier. Shirley enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Her travels took her to England, France, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
Her family connections and long friendships held a special place in Shirley’s life. Her family includes her husband, the late Willie J. Lanier, her son’s, the late Connell Stewart Lanier, Todd Adam Lanier; her two grandsons, Adam and Josh Lanier her nieces: Aisha, Hind, Alshaima, nephews: Ahmad, Amr, Latta, Ali, and Samee. She also leaves behind numerous cousins.
