Tabernacle Charities Spreads Holiday Cheer to Seniors

BY JEWELEAN MAGEE

During the Christmas season, Tabernacle Charities, a 501©3nonprofit organization, prepared Christmas meals at State Tabernacle COGIC located at 234 Glenwood Avenue on December 22, 2025.

These meals went to seniors living at God City, A.C. Ware Manor, and McCarley Gardens apartment buildings and complex. Pastor Russell C. Bell, executive director of Tabernacle Charities and his staff, in partnership with Still Standing Ministries, Cold Spring Community Foundation, Refuge Temple COGIC, The Potter’s House COGIC, and The Fathers Group came together to make this event a success by donating food, time, and delivering meals.

“We (Tabernacle Charities) wanted to be a blessing to the seniors in our community with a holiday meal. I thank God for all the people that came together to help prepare and serve the meals. It was a joy to do this and spread love to our seniors,” aid Pastor Bell.

During the past years, Tabernacle Charities have assisted the community through three components such as Neat Repeats (gently used clothing), Household Goods, Holiday Food Baskets, and the Anne Clark Afterschool Program where children ages 4 years – 16 years received help with their homework and a hot meal in a warm safe environment with adult supervision.

Pastor Bell went on to say, “We are part of the community and want to help out in any way that Tabernacle Charities can.”
