The Buffalo Criterion Newspaper Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Buffalo Inner City Sports Legend Awards

The Buffalo Inner City Sports Legends celebrated their award night on November 26, 2025. The event was held at the George F. Lamm Post on Werle Dr. in Cheektowaga, NY. This group has been in existence since 1991 and was formed by Richard Clark, Zellie Dow, Lum Smith, Gilbert Hargrave, and LeRoi C. Johnson. LeRoi stated, “our mission is to recognize athletes, past and present, who have excelled in sports and brought recognition to our community.” The Buffalo Criterion Newspaper received the Lifetime Achievement Award this year. The Legacy Award went to Curtiss Cannon. Past awardees include Bob Lanier, Harvey Austin, Ricky and Jimmy Williams, and Ricky McCarley.
