The Buffalo Urban League Offers Young Adults a Fresh Start at One-Day Clean Slate Legal Clinic for Justice-Involved Youth
Buffalo, NY — The Buffalo Urban League, City of Buffalo Division of Citizen Services, and a coalition of legal, academic, and community partners are proud to announce the return of the Clean Slate Legal Clinic, a free, one-day legal empowerment event to be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Buffalo Central Library (2nd Floor).
This year’s clinic is specially tailored to serve young adults ages 18–24 who are at risk of or currently justice-involved. The event will provide free one-on-one legal consultations focused on record sealing under the Clean Slate Act, Know Your Rights education, housing and employment law, consumer credit protections, and access to reentry and wraparound support services.
Participants will also engage in a youth-led leadership panel, hear motivational testimonies, and receive guidance on how to seal their record and change their future. Upon check-in, attendees will receive a number to ensure a structured, private, and equitable intake process.
As part of the National Urban League’s Growth Opportunities Program with the support of the Department of Labor[1], the goal is to support participants with wraparound social services, including legal aid, violence prevention workshops, occupational skills training, and placement into work experiences such as internships, apprenticeships, and part-time and full-time employment.
Registration for the event is open to the public here.
Out of respect for participant privacy, no attendees will be filmed or photographed. However, event organizers and partners will be available for media interviews.
