The NBA has seen their ESPN programming ratings decline by 28% this season . I have a theory that is directly connected to the 12-month strategy of the NFL. The last couple of years we have seen the NFL not only add an additional game to its regular season but have expanded their playoff tournament so that the Super Bowl runs into the second week of February. This was all orchestrated by the greed of its thirty-two owners whereas the league dominates the calendar by twelve months of the year. They also took away the NBA dominance of Christmas day by adding games on the calendar which was the traditional NBA day for the season.

Believe me, these strategies are not an accident but shows you how greedy these 32 franchises have become in recent years. They are also pushing to add an eighteen game to the schedule once they shake down the current NFLPA leadership into agreeing to this latest round of money grabs that will add more money to the pockets of the players but will really add huge cash returns to the franchises. I’m surprised more media have not written on how the NFL has just dominated the calendar without any consideration of other sports but you are now seeing the damage that it has done to the NBA which was on the upswing in popularity prior to the 12 month strategy of the NFL.

This nation’s most popular sport has once again proven to the world the greed of this league, which really will not benefit many of its players. Now franchises are carrying more players with just a handful of them making the money they deserve in this physically challenging sport, which leaves most of its participants with some form of disability or CTE.
