Senator Zellner Announces $6.9 Million Investment To Grow Western New York Economy And Support Over 1,100 Jobs

Senator Jeremy J. Zellner today announced more than $6.9 million in economic development funding awarded to projects across Western New York, supporting over 1,000 jobs retained and creating new opportunities for growth across the region.

These investments, delivered through the New York Power Authority’s ReCharge NY program and West ern New York Hydro power initiatives, are part of a broader state wide effort to drive private investment, strengthen local industries, and support long term economic stability.

“Western New York’s economy is built on the strength of our workers, our small businesses, and our institutions,” said Senator Zellner. “These investments are about protecting good paying jobs, creating new opportunities, and making sure our region continues to grow and compete. From Tonawanda to Kenmore to Buffalo, this funding is delivering real results for our communities.”

  • ReCharge NY Pro gram: Provides low-cost power to businesses and institutions to support job retention and eco nomic growth

  • Western New York Hydropower Program: Supports strategic redevelopment and infrastructure projects that strengthen regional competitiveness

  • John W. Danforth Company (Tonawanda)

    • $1,000,000 award

    • Supports 300 jobs retained

  • Kenmore Mercy Hospital (Kenmore)

    • $4,000,000 award

    • Supports 763 jobs retained

  • Wavepoint 3PL (Buffalo)

    • $1,500,000 award

    • Supporting redevelopment of a 300,000-square-foot logistics facility

    • Will create 55 new jobs

  • Preservation Buffalo Niagara (Buffalo)

    • $409,906 award

    • Supporting restoration of the historic Eliza Quirk House into a com munity and nonprofit hub

These investments are expected to strengthen local supply chains, support critical health care infrastructure, and preserve historic assets while driving economic activity throughout the region.
