The NFL draft is such a crap shoot that it’s hard to grade any team based on their decisions from this annual three-day selection party. Some of the draft strategies are often questioned but at the end of the day your evaluation will be based on the franchises either continuous improvement or their decline.

The Buffalo Bills are moving in a range of win now or lose the best years of your franchise quarterback. This is like what happened to Carolina during the best years of Cam Newton. They reached one Super Bowl but could not sustain the level of play because their best players began to feel the physical toll of playing in the NFL for multiple years. This problem is beginning to catch up to the Buffalo Bills, because the window of opportunity is closing and you could see this team take a step back this year.

The organization must be given credit for making the Bills a relevant franchise again, but they also must know when it is time to revamp this roster. Signing older players in this league can be a recipe for disaster, because older players get injured and if they cannot fulfill their contract the guaranteed part of it can destroy your salary cap.

This dilemma came into fruition with the Von Miller deal because the Bills have committed 43.5 million dollars to a player who was then turning 34 years old. Beane will be held accountable for some of those decisions that could hurt this franchise in the next few years along with this year, which I think will be very tough on this team.
