The Buffalo Bills approach the upcoming draft in 2026 by addressing many of their deficiencies in free agency. This year the hometown team has a new base defense under new defensive coordinator Jim Leonard, who comes to the Bills from Denver and will switch to a 3-4 base defense. Understanding that for the last 9 years the team played a base 4-3 defense and drafted players that fit that scheme under former head coach Sean McDermott.

The challenge the franchise will have is some of your players that you have rewarded with new contracts might not fit this new system or the coaching staff might have to find new roles for them going forward. Some players like Taron Johnson were deemed expendable and were traded to the Las Vegas Raiders

The Bills also announced the re-signing of center Con nor McGovern and tight end Dawson Know, which I have no understanding whatsoever. Dawson Knox has not produced the numbers that go along with the contracts he received since becoming a Buffalo Bill. Also, you have Dalton Kincaid and Jackson Hawes, who are both very productive. Why are you keeping Dawson Knox on this team again?

Connor McGovern should have been allowed to leave via free agency because you have Sedrick Van Pran Granger, who has been on your roster for three years. If he is not ready to play, then why is he on the roster? These are decisions that could prevent you from advancing to the Super Bowl again.
