Hidden Pressure of the 2026 season
by Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba
The Buffalo Bills begin to head into their off-season program full steam after the draft with the rookie minicamp. The organization itself is under a lot of pressure to perform at an extremely elevated level with the firing of long-time head coach Sean McDermott. The person in the organization that is under the most pressure is Brandon Beane, the promoted president of football operations. This year every move he makes will be scrutinized because it is widely believed that owner Terry Pegula sided with Brandon Beane in a power struggle within the organization. This led to the dismissal of one of the most successful head coaches in team history. Now you know they deny that there was a power struggle because publicly many of the Bills fan base were against the firing of Coach McDermott especially after winning a playoff game in Jacksonville. This writer believes that last year might have been Coach McDermott’s best coaching job of his tenure here in Buffalo and was not the year that he should have been fired. There are many that believed his firing was overdue, especially after the 13 second playoff game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The one thing I have learned over the years is when you have a change in philosophy of the franchise it is best to give them an opportunity. Believe me, there will be enough people not giving this change a fair chance.
