The Buffalo Bills beat a Carolina Panthers team that was without its starting quarterback 40-9 coming out of the bye week. The offense was led by James Cook who rushed for a career best 216 yards on nineteen carries. The passing attack was better but only accounted for 185 yards. The Bills are not accounting for plays above 20 yards and teams know this. The best threat they have has been Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid in the passing game. Keon Coleman in my opinion is just not being utilized the right way based on his skill set. These issues fall on Joe Brady who I think has just done a sub-par job so far this year in putting the offense in its best position to succeed. The score on Sunday was not an offensive juggernaut performance at all. Coach McDermott calls these games complimentary football in all three phases helped to secure the win this past Sunday.
The defense which played a lot better forced two fumbles and an interception which helped put the Panthers to rest on a day that the passing game seemed like it still was not clicking. The hometown team returns to High mark Stadium in a big game vs the Kansas City Chiefs. These games have just been closing over the years and have become a rivalry of sorts because of the quarterbacks and the relationship between Andy Reid and Sean McDermott. My concern has been the ineffective passing game of offensive coordinator Joe Brady. He has failed so far this season to utilize the personnel on this team. This game is at this point important for both teams with Joe Brady under a considerable amount of pressure to right this offensive ship. The one thing he knows ,James Cook has moved towards elite status as a rusher and when are you going to incorporate him in the passing game?
