The Bills coming out of the bye week
By Pat Freeman, The Mighty O’Ba
The Buffalo Bills, coming out of the bye week, must integrate James Cook into the full game plan, to throw off defensive coordinators. The talk from other teams says that Joe Brady has become predictable with his offensive schemes and play calling. The everyone eats philosophy has been figured out by studying tapes and tendencies of the Buffalo Bills have hurt the strength of this team. If the Bills use James Cook in all packages it will help the offense keep the defense off balance during the game.
Failing to do so will continue to hurt the productivity of this group. The hometown team must also begin using their receiver group properly also. We have seen a decline in positive plays for Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman in the last few weeks because of the failure of Joe Brady to help his players.
The defense, in my view, does not have the back-end talent this year that they once had. Last week, I mentioned that the team will get Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi back from PED suspension this week. These two should help push the pocket and stop the run better than the Bills have done so far this year. The last game the Bills were so ineffective in the first half that they dug themselves too big of a hole to overcome in the second half versus the Falcons.
The defense played exceptionally better in the second half, holding the Falcons to three points and slowed down the run, but an ineffective offense could not get going. Coach McDermott always talks about the importance of complimentary football in games. Well, the last two games which the Bills lost did not exemplify complimentary football.
