The Criterion in Time: 3 Share $1500 In Scholarships

The Buffalo Chapter of Links, Inc., has awarded $1500 to three high school graduates, Mrs. Bertron. Carter, chairman, announced this week.

Recipients are Miss Sandra Anderson, 352 Glenwood Ave., a graduate of Riverside High School, who attends Rochester institute of Technology, studying Industrial engineering.

Miss Margaret Martin, 430 E. Utica St., a Kensington High graduate, who is attending SUNY, at Plattsburgh, studying nursing; and Nicholas Fortson, 3 Meech Ave., a graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, who is majoring in business administration at Valariso University, Indiana.

Members of Mrs. Carter’s Scholarship Committee are: Mrs. James Asbury, Mrs. Reynold Scott, Mrs. Horace Johnson, Mrs. James Patterson, Mrs. Raphael DuBard, Mrs. Thomas Hall and Mrs. Leeland Jones, Jr.

The Buffalo Chapter of Links is a part of a national group of women, dedicated to cultural and educational pursuits. Each Fall, the Buffalo Chapter, sponsors the Ebony Fashion Fair, with Mrs. Winton Hardiman and Mrs. Russell Holland, as co-chairmen.

The Fashion Fair is on Nov. 21 8p.m., at Kleinhans Music Hall. The proceeds from this fashion show enables the Links to donate to various charities and to award scholarships to college-bound students.

Since its organization in 1960, the Buffalo links has awarded over $15,000 in scholarships. Mrs. Alfred D. Price is President of the Links.

You can help the Buffalo Chapters of Links continue its work and also spend an enjoyable evening viewing the latest American and European fashions, by attending EBONY Fashion Fair at Kleinhans Music Hall, on Friday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m.

Proceeds from the show, sponsored by the LINKS, will go to the LINKS Scholarship Fund. Tickets will be sold at the door.
