“A Tribute to Remember the Lives Lost in the Tops Mass Shooting”

This solemn time of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Elim

Christian Fellowship, 70 Chalmers Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14214. 

The tribute will commence with a continental breakfast at 9:30 AM and program from

10:00 AM to 12 Noon.

BUILD of Buffalo President, Charley H. Fisher, III explained that “this tribute will intentionally honor, remember and respect the 10 lives lost and three injured on May 14, 2022”.

The 10 fallen were: Roberta A. Drury, Margus D. Morrison, Andre Makneil, Aaron Salter, Geraldine Talley, Celestine Chaney, Heyward Patterson, Katherine Massey, Pearl Young and Ruth Whitfield.

Fishe provided a synopsis of the tribute which includes:

·        A prayer for survivors and all impacted by the 2022 mass shooting,

·        An address from guest speaker, Justice Craig Hannah, Supreme Court of the State of NY –Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial District;  and

·        Performances from Pastor Valerie Foye and friends; Brian K. Freeman and Muhammad School of Music

In 2025 our solemn time of remembrance focused on prayers for our City and Nation from area Clerics. Prayers included:

·        Community Unity and Economic Stability

·        Racial Reconciliation

·        Education and Healthcare

·        Local and National Leadership

·        Safety and Environmental, and

·        Spiritual Revival

Today, faith leaders serving the Buffalo region and clerics nationwide are joining in prayer during this time of remembrance.
