Buffalo Sewer Announces Queen City Clean Waters Fair
Fair is open to the public to provide more information about the $1 Billion Queen City Clean Waters Initiative
BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Sewer Authority (BSA) has announced the Queen City Clean Waters Fair coming on August 29th from 4 PM – 7 PM at Hoyt Lake. The Clean Waters Fair is providing the residents of Buffalo with an evening of food + music, giveaways, environmental educational activities, and interactive displays so residents can learn more about the Queen City Clean Waters Initiative.
The Queen City Clean Waters Initiative is an approximately $1 billion effort to reduce combined sewer overflows into local waterways. Over the next 15 years various infra structure enhancements at 50+ sites across the city will take place, including $250 million in upgrades at the Bird Island Waste water Treatment Facility, the second largest waste water treatment facility in New York State serving over 550,000 customers.
“Community collaboration is a key driver in the implementation and the mission of the Queen City Clean Waters Initiative; the Clean Waters Fair gives residents another opportunity to engage with BSA officials and program representatives to learn how they can participate and have a voice in this once in a lifetime investment in our community,” said Rosaleen Nogle, PE, BCEE, BC WRE Principal Sanitary Engineer, Buffalo Sewer.
The Clean Waters Fair will feature representatives from the nine council manic districts, BSA customer assistance and resources team members, informational tables that highlight multiple aspects about the initiative, including green infrastructure, sewer technology, BSA history, and more.
The remaining tables will be for workforce and MWBE/DBE certification opportunities, demonstrations of engineering and water/wastewater principles and tools among other.
“We have activities and stations for all ages to come enjoy the warm summer weather and join us on this journey of creating a cleaner, resilient, and equitable environment for Buffalo,” added Nogle.
Stay tuned for future announcements about partners, vendors, and other organizations who will be a part of the Clean Waters Fair.
