NYWFP MAYORAL CANDIDATES’ STATEMENT ON ARREST OF NEWARK MAYOR

NEW YORK CITY —In response to the unconstitutional arrest of Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka for peacefully entering an ICE facility, the New York Working Families Party’s NYC Mayoral Candidate slate issued the following statement:

“The unconstitutional arrest of Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka for attempting to peacefully enter a New Jersey ICE facility is an outright assault on our democracy. Cities across the country deserve leaders who will fight back against Trump’s attacks on our communities and the Constitution. We promise to do exactly that.”
